Zimbabwe struggled against Bangladesh's trio of left-arm spinners, who took eight of the nine wickets between them. Then Shahriar Nafees took his side home with his third century in successive matches against Zimbabwe: only three other hundreds had been scored for Bangladesh in oneday internationals.

Zimbabwe put up an improved performance, led by Williams's career-best 61, but Bangladesh still sailed past the target with 44 balls to spare, powered by an opening stand of 104 between Shahriar Nafees and Mehrab Hossain.

Bangladesh clinched the series with their third successive win, but for a time Zimbabwe looked the more likely victors: they reached 181-5 in the 46th over, with Williams improving his one-day career-best again, but lost their last five wickets for 13 runs. Slow left-armer Abdur Razzak returned his best one-day figures.

Dabengwa 32; Mashrafe bin Mortaza 3-14); Bangladesh 147-2 (32.2 overs) (Shahriar Nafees 34, Aftab Ahmed 58*, Saqibul Hasan 31*). Man of the Match: Aftab Ahmed. One-day international debut: T. M. K. Mawoyo (Zimbabwe). Another disappointing batting performance by Zimbabwe, and another comfortable victory for Bangladesh, who cruised home with 106 balls to spare. Aftab Ahmed hit his second ball for six, and collected three more (and three fours). This was the first official one-day international at the new national stadium, the Shere Bangla at Mirpur, on the outskirts of Dhaka.

†At Dhaka, December 9, 2006. Fifth one-day international: Bangladesh won by three wickets. Toss: Bangladesh. Zimbabwe 193-8 (50 overs) (S. Matsikenyeri 75; Mashrafe bin Mortaza 3-36); Bangladesh 197-7 (49 overs) (Shahriar Nafees 33, Mehrab Hossain, jun. 45, Habibul Bashar 32*; G. B. Brent 4-22). Man of the Match: G. B. Brent. Man of the Series: Shahriar Nafees. Bangladesh completed a 5-0 clean sweep, despite a late wobble in which they declined to 141-6. Their captain, Habibul Bashar, took them home in the closest match of a one-sided series. This was Zimbabwe's 12th consecutive defeat in one-day internationals since beating Bangladesh at Harare on August 4, 2006.
